It never fails to amaze me how many beginning and intermediate body builders I meet in the gym, as well meaning and dedicated as they may be, are for the most part spinning their wheels. The key to becoming bigger -- in their minds anyway -- seems to be some "magical" combination of just the right supplements...
"If I stack creatine with glutamine, and take tribulis with a Nitric Oxide "vasoldilator" and Methoxy 7, will I get big fast?"
The answer, I try to explain, is that real growth is tied in an intrinsic fashion to 3 very important things. They are training, nutrition, and rest. There's no doubt that some select supplements can play an important role in the development of a bigger physique, but without a good basis in the aforementioned foundational elements, they serve little purpose other than to lighten your wallet.
The thing is... a little knowledge, a good program, and good dose of dedication can make your body building progress in leaps and bounds. Certainly far beyond what the newest "miracle" supplement can give you.
This ensures the time you do spend in the gym helps you move ahead, and keeps you from "spinning your wheels". In short, body building is a lot more than trial and error, or getting to the gym 4 times a week.
It's about planning and execution.
I don't need to tell you that without a plan, you can't execute, right?
And that's where James Jordan's Underground Mass Building Secrets body building program comes in.
James is a personal trainer. He's been involved in managing the Gold's gym in Calgary, Alberta, as well as designing all the training programs for the franchise (he's also trained 1,000's of clients himself personally). It's not surprising, therefore, that he really knows his stuff.
The Underground Mass Secrets body building program is a complete, concise, and detailed program (available electronically as an Adode PDF formatted ebook), which, due to its friendly and unintimidating manner, is recommended for all but the most experienced pro body builders (who will already be familiar with most of the material presented).
Beginners and intermediate lifters will find this to be a goldmine, as there's a ton of great info covering every facet of body building.
A Closer Look at Underground Mass Building Secrets:
The publication begins with a thorough overview of one of the most neglected (and most important) aspects of body building -- nutrition. James likes to derive the bulk of the program's nutritional requirements from whole foods (you'll receive an extensive grocery list), and quality fats (James recommends MCTs and coconut oils which the body does not store as fat on your waistline, but burns for energy).
In this program, supplements play a relatively minor role -- and only the best ones, like creatine, glutamine, and whey protein are recommended. I like this practical approach to nutrition, especially when its supplemented with a ton of easy & quick recipes. These too, are included here, and to a greater extent later on in a separate section.
Of course, James discusses adequate protein, fat and carbohydrate consumption, and provides concrete methods for you to determine what exactly it is you should be eating, day in and day out! For those of you who are finding it a little difficult to get the nutritional element of your training together, this section is invaluable.
The Underground Mass Secrets Training Program:
As I mentioned earlier, getting big and strong as efficiently as possible has a lot more to do with following a "scientific routine", then simply learning 3-4 quality exercises per bodypart and putting in an hour or two at the gym 3-4 times per week. The first part of establishing such a scientific routine, James advises, is to determine the power factor value for each exercise you perform. Basically, the power factor value is a numerical representation of work, based on three factors...
