Pumped Up On Isatori's PWR Pre-Workout Supplement

These are the claims that Isatori makes on the label for PWR, its super-concentrated pre-workout formula. And lucky me—I had the pleasure of trialing PWR for one month, and to assess its effects on my performance in the gym.

Did I get to experience all these yummy sensations? More on that in a moment...

When I opened the jar I was relieved that I didn’t have to take a 1 /4 cup serving size to begin with.  This stuff is concentrated (like it says on the jar). Unlike some other pre-workout formulas I have tried, the serving scoop is tiny, just enough to measure out 5 grams. The other nice thing is the jar is small enough (to remember) to toss in your gym bag.

I’ve taken two scoops of other products on the market (roughly 6 tablespoons) and I feel like I am drinking the stuff for HOURS.  With other products I’ve tasted, I find them to be excessively sweet and mix strangely (so you sometimes get frothy white bits floating at the top of your drink, and while this may not bother you, the gunk sticks to my lip gloss).  Yes, I wear lip gloss to the gym….

I inspected further.

The label claims the dosages are “validated, effective” and “ultra-concentrated.”

Paul covers all the ingredients in his full review of PWR here, so if you need to know more about creatine, beta-alanine, arginine or the stimulant element of this formula, I’d suggest reading Paul’s complete review.

The flavor I tried was blue raspberry.

I’m not sure I’ve ever eaten a blue raspberry, so maybe this is what a blue raspberry tastes like (it's not bad at all!).

Even better, there’s only 5 calories in a serving! That matters when you’re trying to diet for a competition, photo shoot, or any other physique goal that requires reduced calories.  I’ve tasted some other pre-workout focus formulas with 50 calories in a scoop. That’s a lot of calories if you need two of them!

I took a full serving size because I handle stimulants well. If you don’t, do what Paul suggests in his review: take half a scoop and see how that works.

Once you drink PWR you had better be high-tailing it to the gym on the double because this stuff works really fast!  The label does claim it works instantly, and I felt this stuff kick in within minutes on my empty stomach. I feel my skin tingle a little bit, possibly from the dosage of beta-alanine, a naturally occurring amino acid that shows some real promise as a performance supplement.

I use beta-alanine as a stand-alone ingredient in my own pre-workout mix, and have noted the flushing sensation in my skin from that before, but that might not be the case for everyone.

I also feel much more FOCUSED than usual on my workout during my product trial.

No one is getting in between me and the bench press or the squat rack on this stuff! Clear the way! The feeling is a good one, though I can feel it subside about 30 minutes in to the workout.

My ENERGY is up on PWR, and possibly even a little more than my usual pre-workout dose of caffeine would have done for me.

I am up before 5 am to train clients.I usually do not get my own workout in until the middle of the day, so I need that energy boost caffeine gives me to train hard. PWR definitely delivers here. And I have to say the best part for me is the absence of a post-workout crash that sometimes happens when taking other pre-workout supplements.

I can’t tell if I got any more POWER from this product though. To be fair, it’s hard to note substantial increases in power while on reduced calories. Since I’m on a “cutting cycle” (something us bodybuilders do to shed off some fat), reduced calories can amount to reduced strength and power.

And while I didn’t notice any increase in power or strength, I also didn't note any reduction in lifts, which might be a good sign that the product is at least giving me the focus to pump out at least one or two more reps that I might not have been able to get on my own.

I’ll take one or two more reps!

And I'm saving at least 1 or 2 scoops in the jar so I can try PWR again when I’m back on increased calories, to see if there’s any additional “power” benefit.

And finally, the PUMP.

Mind you, I’m not one to really care about if my muscles consistently look “pumped” while I’m working out, but some people really like that in a product.

For proof, I’m taking a pic (see the photo above) after an upper body training day, about 45 minutes after taking PWR. It’s probably the angle, but my muscles look really full, and um, possibly PUMPED.

My training partner notes that the veins are popping out of my shoulders too! Hey, I guess I like looking pumped after all!

So, if someone were to ask me out of all the pre-workout concentration formulas, which one is my favorite (for taste, focus, and energy) I’d certainly give PWR 10 toes and 2 thumbs up. I got 3 out of the 4 advertised yummy sensations; pump, energy, focus and I may have gotten more power too; it was just difficult to tell on a reduced calorie diet.

So yes... I like.

As always with a potent stimulant based product like this one, assess your own tolerance gradually and read the label! (That’s good advice across the board, by the way!). If you have high blood pressure and other related maladies, be sure to consult your physician before taking PWR.

As usual, Isatori stands behind its products with a completely unconditional 100% "satisfaction or your money back guarantee" (one of the reasons their products are recommended so highly here on UltimateFatBurner.com) if you purchase direct from them. Why we are different...

Since 1999, our visitors have been trusting our science-based reviews (why should you care about science?) to provide them with the real skinny on weight loss, dieting, and sport nutrition supplements. Unlike our competitors, our mandate is not the sale of supplements (we are fans of good products though, and will make a recommendation should the circumstances merit), it's the education of our visitor... you!

UltimateFatBurner.com is supported by advertising, not by product sales. This allows us to present a real, unbiased synopsis of each product we review. And check our real visitor comments too. These aren't the manufactured testimonials that you'll see elsewhere on the Net. They are real comments from real, often angry people -- visitors who have used these products, and often, aren't too darn happy about it.
